Using you mobile as input device for your desktop application
No Comments
Mobile devices – your phone, your tablet – are great devices for certain type of user input:
Voice input
Taking photos
Scanning QR codes
So what’s about integrating your mobile device into your desktop application?
Two use cases:
Instead of writing a text by using your keyboard – why not using your mobile device to directly talk into your application?
When processing your travel expenses: wouldn’t it be great if you could take a photo of your paper documents and directly transfer this photo into your application? …instead of taking a photo, sending it as mail to yourself, downloading the photo and uploading it…?
CaptainCasa now added the component MOBILELINK which makes things much (muchchchchch!) easier:
In your application you place the MOBILELINK-icon e.g. next to your text field
When the user clicks the icon then first time during a session he/she will see a QR code. Scanning this QR code with your mobile will now connect the desktop session with the mobile.
Now you can talk into your mobile and what you talk is directly transferred into the text field of your application.
For the application processing there is no need to change anything! The text is just normally processed – if it comes from the text field or from mobile input, there is no difference from processing point of view!
Take a look into our demo workplace – “News” section – for experiencing the MOBILELINK components on your own.
